Hormones

  1. Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH): Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) is a hormone produced by the small follicles in the ovaries.  Ovarian Reserve: AMH levels correspond to a woman’s ovarian reserve, or the number of eggs remaining. Higher AMH levels suggest a higher number of remaining eggs, while lower levels indicate fewer eggs.Fertility Assessment: Although AMH levels are related to egg count, they do not predict fertility directly. However, they can provide useful information such as respond to ovarian stimulation during in vitro fertilization (IVF). Diagnosis of Ovarian Conditions: AMH levels are often high in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and low in diminished ovarian reserve. Causes of falsely high/falsely low levels Hormonal contraceptives, illness, hormone therapies, and pregnancies also may cause a falsely low AMH. Levels may be falsely high for a couple weeks after stopping hormones/contraceptives.
This add-on panel is ideal for women to gain a greater understanding of their fertility status via a highly informative single biomarker.
